Fan pages like “RODY Duterte-Bayaning Pilipino,” “Pres. Rody Duterte Worldwide Supporters,” and “Duterte-Marcos Tandem” shared the article since March 2, gaining thousands of shares.

And it should be noted how all three pages shared the same caption: “Naku ibig sabihin may connection ang dilawan sa abu sayyaf? Mga walang hiya talaga pinaglalaruan lang ng mga dilawan ang taong bayan.!!!”

Although other blogs picked up the story, it actually originated from the fake news site abs.cbn-tv.com.

Abu Sayyaf allegedly announced their desire to have De Lima released on “Wednesday” (no published date was included in the article) through SITE Intelligence Group, which is said to be monitoring jihadi sites. The terror group also threatened to do more kidnappings and beheading if the government does not “heed to the warning immediately.”

Abu Sayyaf was quoted saying: “Putting De Lima in jail is murderous and its no different from what we do. Release her immediately or witness more kidnappings and beheading.”

The article also cited how De Lima denied allegations about financing Abu Sayyaf and called these claims “totally insane” and “outrageously ridiculous,” which the senator actually did.

De Lima, former Sulu governor Abdusakur Tan, Atty. Mehol Sadain, Atty. Wendell Sotto, and Ediwasif Baddiri are facing charged before the Office of the Ombudsman-Mindanao for violating Section 4 of RA No. 10168 (The Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012). They were accused of releasing Abu Sayyaf inmates from jail.

The terror group indeed made headlines recently but it was because of the beheading of a German hostage and the death of some Abu Sayyaf members during the clash between the group and government forces on March 2 in Sulu.

However, the part of the story published by abs.cbn-tv.com about how Abu Sayyaf wanted to have De Lima released is pure fiction, just like the other stories on the website! The terror group is quite occupied with fighting off our soldiers, as what was evident in the recent news reports.

This is the same website that has created fake stories about Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez responding to Duterte for slamming the former Colombian president, De Lima threatening to make Philippines “ungovernable” for Duterte, Jinkee Pacquiao shot dead, De Lima attempting to commit suicide in prison.
