Duterte says star in Piston’s logo sign of communism, but netizen asks: What about Tiki-tiki Star, other products?

President Rodrigo Duterte claimed that protest groups in the transport strike are conspiring with communists.

“Itong Karapatan, itong KMU, itong Piston, they are just the legal fronts of the Communist Party of the Philippines. Kaya nga CPP, NDF, pati the NPA, the New People’s Army. It’s a one big conspiracy but they are at the same time, all of them, are committing right now rebellion,” Duterte said.

“It’s a one big conspiracy, mayroon sila, kita mo yung Piston may star pa ng, that’s the logo of the communists,” Duterte added.

But as this alternate Twitter page for Communications Asec. Mocha Uson has pointed out, there is actually no star in the Piston logo.

Another netizen also pointed out the flaw in Duterte’s logic.

“Following Duterte’s logic on PISTON being a Communist group because of having a STAR on their logo (WHICH THEY ACTUALLY DON’T HAVE), here are some of the other COMMUNIST FRONTS in the Philippines,” Facebook user Che Che said.

She then enumerated the products with logos and names that contain a “star,” such as the Philippine Star, Star Movies, Tiki-tiki Star, Star Wax, Cadbury 5 Star, Star Margarine, PUP, and Star Cinema.

She also pointed out how the Communist Party of the Philippines’ logo does not contain a star.

Then, she asked what should be done with the Philippine flag when it contains three stars.

The ALT Twitter page asked what Duterte should do with all the stars in China’s flag, with the stars in his presidential seal, and other logos with a star.
