Busted: Pinoy Ako Blog slams Thinking Pinoy for accusing Robredo of $300 meet-and-greet but it’s fundraising for Fil-Am musicians

Is Vice President Leni Robredo going on a paid meet-and-greet for at least $300 in the US?

At least this is what blogger Thinking Pinoy thought, as expressed in his Facebook post, “Pay to Meet Leni?” He even included a Facebook ‘feeling’ of being “disgusted.”

“A source in L.A. who knows the organizers told me that attendees are required to pay $300 (PHP 15,000) to meet Leni Robredo,” TP wrote on May 15.

TP then asked if Robredo is doing this for her eldest daughter Aika’s tuition.

“May pondo na sa OVP, hihingi pa ng pera? Pang-tuition ni Aika?” he added.

Thinking Pinoy

Aika is going to Harvard University this June 18 to take up a masters program on public administration, despite her mother’s detractors’ efforts to get the university to rescind her admission because of her parents’ alleged issues with drugs.

It turned out that Maharlika, another vocal Duterte supporter on social media, revealed Robredo’s involvement with the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra’s (FASO) fundraising event in Los Angeles on May 14.

Opening her Facebook post with #BisePerwisyongLeni, she said, “Maharlikans ito ang invitation ng pagpunta ng PEKENG BISE ROBREDO dito sa Los Angeles.”

She obviously doesn’t believe that FASO is really raising funds for themselves.

“Fund raising po ito para kay Robredo pero pinalalabas lang na para sa Filipino American Symphony Orchestra. (FASO),” she added.

Maharlika also noted how FASO was trying to mislead people by not putting Robredo’s name as the event’s guest of honor.

“Malinaw na panggantso ito. Dahil sa website ng FASO, hindi inilagay ang pangalan ni Robredo as guest, pero sa actual invitation card , nakalagay ang nakakasuka niyang pangalan,” she said.

Thinking Pinoy

However, the anonymous Facebook page “Pinoy Ako Blog” slammed TP for not doing his research right.

In his blog post, he quoted the USA Inquirer’s article about the fundraising event is for the benefit of FASO, not Robredo.

As quoted from the Inquirer article:

“Edwin Raquel, one of FASO’s board members, and his family will graciously open their home for the event, which will raise funds to sustain FASO, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Filipino music and artists and for its music education programs.”

Pinoy Ako Blog wrote, “See, it’s not an event for VP Leni. She is just an invited guest. Kung anuman ang kikitain ay mapupunta sa promotion ng Filipino Music at music education program.”

The fundraising event called “A Night of Symphony” will be held on June 17 in the former residence of Hollywood legend Mary Pickford in LA, now the residence of the event organizers, Edwin and Lani Raquel.

On fasogala.org, the funds that will be raised from the event will allow FASO “to continue playing music for the community and offer education and outreach programs such as workshops and master classes for the youth.”
