The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) on Monday issued an apology to Vice President Leni Robredo and actress Agot Isidro for “distasteful” comment on official its Facebook page.
“Certain distasteful statements have been posted in our Facebook page that in no way reflect NAPC’s views or values. We sincerely apologize to Vice President Robredo, Ms. Isidro, and to the public in general. We are now investigating this matter internally,” NAPC said in a statement.
The post has been deleted but some netizens were able to take a screenshot of it.
The said post came after both Robredo and Isidro made statements fearing that Duterte’s tirades against the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations may affect international aid. Duterte even dared these entities to withdraw their aid from the Philippines, adding that the country will still survive without their assistance. The President also belittled the donations from these foreign bodies, calling them “crumbs.”

Isidro, on top of commenting that many Filipinos might go hungry, said that Duterte is a “psychopath,” which earned her the wrath of Duterte’s supporters.
Robredo, on her part, said that the partnerships with foreign countries is important to the Philippines’ goal of reducing poverty in the country.
“I’ve never looked at aid from other countries as beggar-donor relationship. I like to think that it’s a human response to show mercy, compassion, regardless of our nationalities, our race, our religion, and even our political beliefs. Our diversity and difference must never be a barrier to reach out to each other when anyone is in need,” Robredo said in her speech at the Partnerships Against Poverty Summit on October 10.
