Busted: DOJ hawak ang listahan ng pandaraya ni Robredo? Misleading headline!

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II is said to have a list proving that Vice President Leni Robredo did cheat during the 2016 elections. The story quickly made rounds on social media, gaining hundreds of shares.

However, clicking on the link of the story, which was published by various blogs, such as pinoytribune.com, socialmediaph.info, newstoday.ph, and more, you will only find a YouTube video that is 10 minutes and 48 seconds long.

The content of the video? Here:

  • Why those who file an electoral protest are required to pay up
  • About UP considering the idea of giving President Duterte an honorary degree, which were opposed  by some UP alumni and students
  • The hotly debated number involving the deaths related to the administration’s drug war

And the video was cut off. In the video alone, Aguirre did not talk about the DOJ having a list showing evidence that Robredo committed fraud in the elections.

It is clear then that the websites that published the video with the title “DOJ hawak ang listahan ng pandaraya ni Leni Robredo” are merely trying to deceive its readers with a misleading title. The title itself would make you curious as to what else you might find out about the list, whether you are pro- or anti-Robredo, generating them clicks and views without giving you anything much in return.

If you find the same story on your social media newsfeed, it would be a waste of time to watch it. It will merely generate views and clicks for the websites that are deliberately misleading readers.
