The 22-year-old model involved in the controversy with Senator Manny Pacquiao over his Instagram Live chat took to Twitter on September 28 to deny starting the conversation with the lawmaker and boxing champ.
“I definitely didn’t engage in conversation with him first,” Arzaylea Rodriguez said on Twitter.

Rodriguez added that she was surprised that Pacquiao would join her Instagram Live chats.
Pacquiao came under fire when netizens noticed him commenting on Rodriguez’s live video chat. He was also caught asking the 22-year-old Instagram, “Where are you from?”

After his admission to saying hello to the IG star, Pacquaio admitted to having said hello to a 22-year-old model on Instagram live, but said that he merely replied to the model who said hello first.

“Ako yan, ako yan… Eto nakakatawa. Kasi pag open ko ng Instagram ko, nakalagay live. So pinindot ko. Pag pinindot mo mag-appear ka dun. Pag tinignan mo, pag panoorin mo siya sa live niya, mag appear ka na Manny Pacquiao has joined your live,” Pacquiao told reporters on September 27.
“Sabi nya ay Manny Pacquiao, hi, hello. So nag hello ako. Sana hindi pa ma-erase yung video para maliwanagan sila. Tapos sabi nya, tinatanong nya ako nasa Pilipinas ka ba. Sabi ko andito ako tapos where are you from,” he added.
The 38-year-old lawmaker also clarified there was no malice in his attempt to start a conversation with Rodriguez.
“Ah, wala naman. Tinatanong nya ako kung nasa Pilipinas ka ba kung hindi nabura ung video maliliwanagan sila,” he said.
Pacquiao added that anyone could talk to him on his social media accounts.
“Yes kinausap nya ako sa live. Lahat naman pwedeng makipag usap sa akin ng live e. Wala namang malisya sa akin. In fact, yun nga lang. Ganun lang pagkatapos niya sumagot, hindi na ako nag-ano,” he said.

Rodriguez has more than 400,000 followers on Instagram. She also used to date 5 Seconds of Summer’s lead vocalist Luke Hemmings.
