One of the organizers of the September 21 rally in Luneta responded to Communications Asec. Mocha Uson after the latter accused the mainstream media of getting paid to promote the rally.

According to Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Uson was in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly to cover the event, as requested by Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.

In response to Uson’s accusation, Manila Times columnist and one of the convenors of the Movement Against Tyranny Katrina Stuart Santiago told Uson that the rally organizers did not pay the media and did not get paid for their work, unlike Uson who was sent to New York on public funds.

“Because it’s 1AM and I’m still writing the script for tomorrow’s #Luneta program. I am not being paid for this. YOU Asec #Mocha are living off a salary, and are in New York, on public funds,” she said.

“In Tagalog: kami hindi kami bayad. PERO IKAW, BAYAD KA NAMIN. Sino ngayon sa atin ang dapat mag-adjust?”

Uson has repeatedly made accusations against the mainstream media for being ‘paid media,’ even calling them “presstitutes.”
