French President Emmanuel Macron allegedly said that President Rodrigo Duterte is a “role model” with the way he is handling his war on drugs and terrorism in the Philippines.

This is what a website called newsfoxchannel.com claimed Macron to have said during the G20 Summit. Macron was quoted saying, “The world may not agree, but let’s admit. Duterte is a role model.”
During the G20 Hamburg Summit from July 7 to 8, the participants did talk about terrorism as one of their main topics. They vowed that they will redouble efforts to stop the financing of extremist groups. The participating countries issued a joint statement to condemn terrorism funding.
“We underline our resolve to make the international financial system entirely hostile to terrorist financing and commit to deepening international cooperation and exchange of information,” the statement said.
“We call on all member states to ensure that the FATF has the necessary resources and support to effectively fulfill its mandate,” it said.

“There should be no ‘safe spaces’ for terrorist financing anywhere in the world.”
However, Macron did not make any statement describing Duterte as a “role model.” It was something that newsfoxchannel.com made up and it is not the first fake story that they published.
The website also posted fake stories, such as US President Trump telling New York Times that PH matters are not their business, Queen Elizabeth II saying PH government needs support and not condemnation, British PM Theresa May saying only the ‘selfish’ and ‘greedy’ want to oust Duterte, Loida Lewis apologizing for being wrong about Duterte, and more. There are other fake stories, too, about Australian Foreign Minister urging human rights advocates to help in Duterte’s drug war, US imposing a travel sanction on Vice President Leni Robredo, and Loida Lewis and Senator Leila de Lima being involved in drug deals.
The presence of these fake articles on the website more than showed that it cannot be a trusted source of information.
Macron has never made any statement about Duterte since swearing in as the new French president. Duterte, however, has congratulated Macron after the French election.
In May, we busted a fake article claiming that Macron said that he will do a Duterte to fight drugs and lawlessness in his country.
