With the release of the recent board exams for Certified Public Accountants (CPA) came negative reactions due to the lack of topnotchers from the University of the Philippines. But one netizen came to defend the UPians from the haters, along with some fact-checking bits.

Facebook user Raymudn del Rosario noticed the hatred thrown at the UP graduates after the release of the May 2017 CPA Board Exam results on May 29.
As what his post on May 30 showed, among the comments against UPians were:
“Congrats sa UP wlang nakapasa.”
“nganga na naman mga scholar ng bayan na mahilig mag rally”
“Wow mga bisaya na school talaga… galing… ang mga taga UP kahit isa wala… hahhahah”
“Wala Na taga UP sa top ten! Puro rally kasi Ang inaatupag”
“Masyado nang busy kaka-rally mga taga-Manila, hindi na nakapasok sa Top 10…”
“UP at iba pa, good luck next time… Ang technique niyan huwag kasing maging rallyista.. magaral nang mag aral mabuti!”
“Utak rebelled na kc taga UP kaya nga nga na.”
“Hehe kulilat mga taga UP.. Activista pa more.. Yan napapala nyo instead mag aral.. Congrats mga bisdak..”

Del Rosario summarized the haters comments with an accompanying fact-check.
UP students failed to get to the Top 10 because they were occupied with staging rallies?
“Most UP Business Administration and Accountancy students graduate in June and they normally take the board exams in October. UP Diliman garnered a 100% passing rate in the October 2016 CPA Board Exams (69 out of 69, all first takers), 2 graduates earned spots in the Top 10,” del Rosario said.
“HATER: “Madaya pala sila eh! Dapat sa MAY sila mag-take para they will compete with the best of the best!”” he wrote.
His response to this? “Aside from the fact that UP students could not take the board exams before they earn their degrees, there are actually more graduates who take the October Board Exams:
– OCTOBER 2016: 10,648 first timers, 3,742 repeaters (TOTAL: 14,390)
– MAY 2017: 3,760 first timers, 5,885 repeaters (TOTAL: 9,645)”
And here’s del Rosario’s message to the haters: “Do your research before making attacks.”
Of course, he didn’t forget to congratulate to the new CPAs.
In October 2016, UP Diliman was hailed as the top performing school with a 100% passing rate as all of tis 69 examinees passed the Board. It was also the only university with a perfect passing rate.
Moreover, UPD has been the top performing school since 2009 and had a perfect passing rate in 2011, 2012, and 2014.
In the October 2016 CPA exam, two UPD grades made it to the top 10, in the 8th and 10th place.
Cousins Vianca Pearl Inot Amores and Marianito Jesus Berdin Del Rio, both from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, tied in first place in the May 2017 CPA Board exam.
