Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly congratulated the Philippine government for arresting Senator Leila De Lima, claimed an article online.

It was published by blog duterteworld.com and was shared by several Duterte and Marcos fan pages, including “Kilusang Bagong Lipunan,” “Duterte Warriors,” “Duterte Para sa Pagbabago,” and “Pres. Duterte ang Agila ng Davao.”

The blog, though, weirdly only inserted one sentence into the article involving Putin and the rest were all dedicated to the narration of De Lima’s story leading to her arrest. The article mainly talked about her affair with her former driver Ronnie Dayan, her alleged links to the Bilibid drug trade, the drug convicts’ testimonies against her, and several other controversies.
It is obvious that the article is fake as it was even barely able to come up with a story involving the Russian leader. Whoever wrote the article just tried to put one sentence in, name-dropping Putin, to make up the story and support the claim of its title.
Sadly, as what has been shown in the screenshots above, the article still gathered hundreds of shares from the netizens, who taunted De Lima’s arrest and praised Putin.
However, some netizens caught up to the fact that this is a fake article.
From the URL of the website itself, cnnchannel1.com is obviously trying to fool people as it sells itself as something related to the Cable News Channel (CNN, cnn.com). And it did have some hoaxes that we spotted.
