Several fake news sites have been posting news about Senator Leila De Lima stating that she would be holding a mass when President Rodrigo Duterte dies.

According to the “news” that has been spread around by several fake sites and Facebook pages, De Lima made this statement while she was being interviewed by several TV reporters. The TV reporters asked De Lima about what she would do if Duterte was really sick and De Lima allegedly answered, “Sabi may sakit daw, baka mag pa-misa ako pag namatay siya.”
The sites that have been posting this says that TV reporters deliberately did not air this part of De Lima’s interview.

Moreover, it was claimed by the same article that Senator (Joel) Villanueva issued a statement about this matter saying: “It is not right to wish for someone to die, even if we’re both Liberal Party I won’t agree to her lousy statement. It could also end her good political image.”
As of writing, this fake article is already circulating in different satire news sites. It has also been shared by two Duterte fan pages in Facebook accumulating almost 2 thousand shares, 1,200 comments, and more than 2 thousand likes all together.
The article also included the “video” of De Lima saying this statement. However, the alleged video is but an image of one of De Lima’s interviews that was edited for it to appear as a playable video.
Upon investigation, there is no reliable source or news site talking about this controversial statement by De Lima. There has also been no reliable account that verifies Senator Villanueva’s comment on the issue.

Moreover, the article was posted by fake news site abiascbn.com. Note the “i” in there. We have busted several fake articles from this site, such as Senator Risa Hontiveros passing a bill prohibiting tattoo exposure, Vice President Leni Robredo refusing to open the Hacienda Luisita case, the late President Cory Aquino being beatified, and De Lima having an abortion.
