An article from a website called usa-radio.com hailed Senator Leila De Lima as the richest person in the Philippines and the 12th in the US, even citing a Forbes 2016 report as its basis. And that article was shared by a certain Glorian Gh on Facebook.
The same article, although published by a different website this time, by Madeline C. Santos, to Facebook fan page “Rody. R. Duterte Movement Universal.”
The article claimed that the 2016 report from Forbes said that De Lima is worth $13.2 billion after taking her investments in the Philippines and abroad into consideration. It noted that 90% of the senator’s investments is in the US. The article also said that De Lima is even the 12th richest person in the US and is in the list called “400 Richest Investors in US,” with her wealth mostly coming from hotels and real estates. De Lima even allegedly owns the “prestigious hotel chain ACCOR.” This is the first time the lady senator’s name was included in the list, said the article.

However, all of the article’s claims are false. Forbes actually hailed Henry Sy and his family, the owners of SM Investments, as the richest people in the Philippines this 2016.

We checked Forbes’ list of America’s Richest Investors. De Lima’s name is definitely not on the list and when we checked who the 12th person on the list, it turned out to be John Paulson, who is worth $11.4 billion. He is the founder of Paulson & Co. Inc.
Looking at the source of the article, which is usa-radio.com, it’s no wonder the claims it made are all lies.
This is not the first time usa-radio.com has come up with fake articles. It also made the hoax about former President Fidel Ramos testing positive for drugs, an article that we busted. The site even published that fake story about Hillary Clinton showing Duterte some love and several other hoaxes.
