The Bureau of Internal Revenue is said to be targeting the Hacienda Luisita next in its tax collection list since the sugar plantation allegedly owed P14.7 billion in unpaid taxes. At least, this is what the fake news site okd2.com is claiming.

Published on November 3, the story earned the attention of a few netizens, with one even sharing it to Facebook pages “BongBong Marcos United.”
Even former Speaker Prospero Nograles shared the Okd2 story on his Facebook page.
Even the recently controversial Bobby Capco commented on Nograles’ post, saying “Wow kaya pala inuubos sa destab.”
Capco was one of the earlier sources of the story about how President Donald Trump allegedly called Senator Antonio Trillanes IV as “little narco.”

We read the okd2 tale and immediately spotted that it was classified as “Humor & Satire,” immediately answering our question on whether its claims are true or not. Okd2 claimed that President Rodrigo Duterte is targeting to collect over P100 billion of three decades worth of unpaid taxes from giant corporations, including the Philippine Airlines (PAL), which recently settled its P6 outstanding debt to the government on November 3.
Okd2 named a certain BIR officer Teodoro Pancho, who allegedly said that a huge bulk of the P27.3 billion target collection would come from the hacienda’s unpaid taxes. It also detailed that the plantation’s last payment worth P327,879.25 was made on April 2, 1985 for its 1984 tax. No payment has been made after that, making the Hacienda Luisita liable for P14.7 billion. President Duterte allegedly said that he will not make a deal with the hacienda owners to cut government losses.
But we could not find stories from credible sources naming BIR officer Teodoro Pancho and his alleged comments on the Hacienda Luisita’s unpaid taxes or even stories about the plantation’s dues to the government. Hacienda Luisita has been constantly involved in controversies over the farmers fight over land distribution, the Hacienda Luisita massacre victims, and ‘slave labor.’
However, the fact alone that Okd2 classified the story as satirical meant that it should not be taken seriously. This is not the first story made up by the blog, which has published other fake and satirical stories, such as how former President Benigno Aquino compared how SAF forces only took a day to kill Marwan while it took the military 5 months to kill Hapilon, how Rep.
