Busted: Rep. Lani Mercado tweeted about the demise of Imelda Marcos, but deleted and apologized for it

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos was a victim of a death hoax before, something that Meme Buster debunked. But on May 7, Imelda became the subject of Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado Revilla’s tweet, sending her condolences to the Marcos’ family for Imelda’s alleged demise.

“Our condolences to the Marcos Family. It was a pleasure and privilege to work with Cong. Imelda Romualdez Marcos,” she said in her erroneous tweet.

Facebook page Pinoy Ako Blog managed to capture a screenshot of Mercado-Revilla’s tweet, although it was deleted a few seconds after.

According to an ABS-CBN report, Mercado-Revilla already admitted her mistake for making such a tweet and apologized for it.

Her apology tweet reportedly said, “I would like to apologize for my tweet which I have erased. I received a news break message informing the public about Mrs. Marcos,” she tweeted on May 8.

But as of this writing, we can no longer access her tweet.

A GMA News report said that Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee clarified that her mother is still alive.
