Foreign reporter cussed out by Duterte after asking about killings

President Rodrigo Duterte cussed out foreign reporter, Jonathan Miller, after answering the latter’s questions about the killings related to his administration’s campaign against drugs.

Jonathan Millers is the Asian correspondent of Britain’s Channel 4 News. After delivering his question to the President, Duterte gave out a lengthy reply, once again ranting about the hypocrisy of the United States for criticizing the Philippines.

“Who invaded the country, Nicaragua… Panama? You want proof? Talk about the law. Look what America did, they invaded Panama. The President (Manuel Noriega) is still in prison in the United States,” Duterte said.

Duterte also brought up the policies and actions implemented by the United States towards Iraq and Panama.

“They invaded a country on a question, on the issue because drugs were flooding America and they had to take out (Noriega),” he said.

“America went to war. So, they destroyed not only the sovereignty, they fractured the country. It’s non-existent, actually. And they had to kill Saddam (Hussein) to get the leader. Who is the hypocrite here? Where is the hypocrisy here?” he added.

The President also noted that the United States is not a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“They are invoking extra-judicial killings, calling upon the Human Rights Commission, and defining extra-judicial killings which is in the charter of which he is not a signatory. Do you know that, that America is not a member? And yet they threaten leaders and presidents. You do not do that to me when you are hypocrite to me. You are a hypocrite by what standard or language do we use. I will say, do not talk about the people, my own citizens. You have destroyed countries and deprived sovereignty. What is the moral basis for the things that America did in the name of human rights,” Duterte said.

“We are being called by names everywhere with no proof. And here you are, America invading a country, bombing it. Killing people in the process, children, adults and all even the dogs and the goats and the lambs. Only to say we committed a mistake, no weapons of mass destruction. I call upon the human rights in America to consider this,” Duterte added.

It was after this long rant, the President cussed out the reporter under his breath: “P—ina mo.”

The President then asked Miller if he had no more questions to which the latter responded that he had none.

“You cannot think of questions. Give me the meaning of hypocrisy, and I would address myself to the international viewers. Sumibat o, tingnan mo,” Duterte said referring to the foreign reporter after he said that he had no more questions.
