Duterte wants to look into alleged ‘US meddling’ in 2015 Mamasapano and 2002 Davao bombing, says Palace

On Sunday, October 23, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Martin Andanar expressed President Rodrigo Duterte’s desire to reassess the investigations of the Mamasapano incident in 2015 and Davao City bombing in 2002 to verify the alleged involvement of the United States.

In Andanar’s interview with radio dzBB, he voiced out the numerous questions left unanswered by the Philippine National Police Board of Inquiry (BOI) probe on the 2015 fatal operation, which left 44 Special Action Force commandos dead.

“Kaya nabanggit at nadugtong doon yung sinabi ni Presidente na pabubuksan niya yun para malaman kung sino ba yung nakialam sa Mamasapano. Saan galing yung order? Sino yung mga personalidad? Gusto niya malaman because yun nga, marami pang question na naiwan after the investigation na ginawa ng PNP,” Andanar questioned.

He goes on to add that “so many questions were left open that needs to be answered.”

The President conveyed his plan to reopen the probe on the Mamasapano case in his speech in Beijing at the Philippines-China Trade and Investment Forum.

In spite of this, Andanar revealed that no direct orders have been formally issued by the President as of the moment regarding the reopening of the probe and as to who will lead the handling of the case.

President Duterte is curious and wants to know who the recipient of the reward of $5 million from the US Government is, on behalf of the apprehension of terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir alias Marwan, who was the operation’s main target.

BOI’s report identified that at least six Americans were with police officials at the Tactical Command Post in Shariff Aguak. However, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation denied any knowledge of said operation.

Similarly, they are also looking into the reinvestigation of the Davao City bombing in 2002 with allegations of an American as the suspect.

Both incidents allegedly involved the meddling of Americans which gives the government a reason to question America’s respect on the laws of their allies.
