Some Twitter users corrected Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa for saying that Jaro is not in Iloilo City when he credited a top drug lord’s slay to the provincial police and not the city police.
Twitter user @jandwayne said, “Dear Dela Rosa, Jaro is in Iloilo City.”

Another one, @Donicares tweeted, “Bato Dela Rosa told GMA News that Jaro is in Iloilo Province and not in Iloilo City. Wow. He should learn Philippine Geography.”

In his interview on dzBB, dela Rosa clarified the rumors that the death of the alleged number 1 drug lord in Iloilo City, Richard Prevendido, was in preparation for the potential reassignment of police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido to Iloilo City.
Espenido served as the chief of police in Albuera, Leyte, where suspected drug lord Mayor Rolando Espinosa was killed in the provincial jail. He was then transferred to Ozamiz City, where suspected drug Lord Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. was killed during a police raid.
Dela Rosa said that Prevendido’s death should be credited to the provincial police office.
“Matagal nang pihaghahanap si Richard Prevendido … hindi talaga siya nag-surrender. Ang pagkapatay sa kanya ay [bunga ng] pagsisikap ng Iloilo provincial police,” he said, as quoted by GMA News.
He noted that Espenido was supposed to be transferred to Iloilo City.
“Napatay si Prevendido sa distrito ng Jaro sa Iloilo at hindi sa Iloilo City,” Dela Rosa said.
Jaro is one of the seven districts of Iloilo City in the province of Iloilo, so it is indeed a part of Iloilo City.
