Busted: Church prays for newly elected gov’t leaders, not for drug lords’ protection

However, the church has clarified just what the prayer is all about. One thing for sure is that it is a prayer for the newly elected leaders so they will stay humble, make careful decisions, and not use violence, strength, and weapons.

Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz also said that the recently issued oratio imperata does not say anything about the next administration.

“Pero walang ibig sabihin yan kung masama o mabuti ang susunod na administrasyon ha? Gusto ko lang linawin ito. Walang sinasabi tungkol sa sino at bakit,” Cruz said.

The oratio imperata was issued for the new government leaders to serve with humility, integrity, generosity, courageous simplicity, heroic sacrifice, and respect for human life instead of what some netizens accused as a prayer to protect the lives of drug lords.
