House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez allegedly felt angry over the photos of former President Cory Aquino and her husband, Benigno “Ninoy,” on the P500-bill, so much so that he told a group of journalists on Saturday afternoon that he has already started a motion to the Aquino couple’s photos from the bill. At least this is what we got from one of the fake news sites that we kept monitoring – local-reports.com.
Filled with anger, Alvarez said, “Why should they be there? I can’t just keep quiet as a speaker. Sometimes I have to talk. We need to take those pictures of Cory Aquino and Benigno Aquino off the 500-peso bill.”
He goes on to add that the Aquinos had no meaningful achievements for the country that makes them deserving of such an honor. Hence, his proposal to remove their faces from the bill to the House of Representatives.

Further inspection shows that there is a petition in change.org to replace the face of the Aquinos with the face of the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago on the 500-peso bill.
The creator of the petition, Tiago Bigote, believes that the late senator is more deserving and “is the true hero,” unlike Ninoy “who helped the communists and sold the Sabah to Malaysia.”
He lists additional reasons as to why Senator Santiago should be put instead and also gives out reasons as to why the Aquinos are not worthy to be placed in the bill.
However, despite this petition, there is no existing motion passed by Alvarez nor any other member of the House of Representatives to change the pictures on the 500-peso bill as of the moment.

In addition, no journalist articles have reported of Alvarez’s supposed anger on this matter; thus, he also cannot be quoted for speaking up against the pictures of Cory and Ninoy Aquino on the bill.
Memebuster.net found that some netizens still tried to share the fake article online and the dubious source’s link was even masked with a link name “Inquirer.net,” possibly to deceive people to click on the website as they might assume the article is really from the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

This is not the first fake news site from local-reports.com that we have busted. Memebuster.net also debunked their hoaxes about the Ghana president claiming Duterte is his role model, Thailand bank confirming the already proven fake story about the gold transfer during Aquino’s administration, and Russia creating 2 million jobs in the Philippines.
