Confessed Davao Death Squad (DDS) member Edgar Matobato on Monday, October 24, seeks the help of the Supreme Court for protection from President Rodrigo Duterte.
Matobato asked the Supreme Court to transfer his criminal case of illegal possession of firearms from Davao City, which is the hometown of the President, to Manila. He also asked the Office of Court Administrator (OCAD) for the postponement of his arraignment scheduled on November 3 while his request to transfer venue has not yet been approved.

Matobato came forward to the Senate committee on justice, testifying that Duterte was the one who ordered the killings of the criminals in Davao while he was still serving as the city mayor.
“The fact that President Rodrigo R. Duterte is the prime target of his [Matobato’s] expose makes the scenario even more terrifying. This is not to mention the fact that Matobato’s former comrades are policemen based in Davao City who are capable of mounting an attack on him in a covert manner,” Atty. Jude Josue L. Sabio said in Matobato’s behalf while filing the motion to the Supreme Court’s OCAD.
Another reason that they put out was that if Duterte was capable of ordering the killing of journalist Jun Pala, his former friend, then “it is with more reason that he would have the ultimate motive to kill Matobato who also knew the same criminal activities and testified frontally about said activities.”
“If all his [Duterte] admissions are taken together in conjunction with Matobato’s firsthand account…it can be safely opined that President Rodrigo Duterte is a confirmed killer, if not a serial killer, mass murderer or psychopath,” it said in the motion.
