SWS survey: Filipinos trust US the most, China the least

A recent survey by the Social Weather Station (SWS) released on Tuesday revealed that Filipinos trust the United States the most and China the least.

The results of the survey showed that 76% of Filipinos had “much trust” to the US while 13% were undecided and 11% had “little trust”. Final results showed that the US had a rating of “very good” +66 overall net trust.

This recent result is relatively lower to the outcome of SWS’ June survey where the US got an “excellent” +72 trust rating, with 81% having “much trust” and only 9% having “little trust.”

However, this is still considerably better than China’s score which was revealed to be “bad” -33 net rating. The breakdown includes 22% saying they had “much trust”, another 22% undecided and 55% had “little trust.”

This is even lower from their score during the June survey where the country scored “poor” -24 net rating, where 27% said they had “much trust and 51% said they had “little trust.”

This public trust survey by the SWS was conducted from September 24 to 27 with 1,200 adult respondents all over the country. Respondents had been divided among Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The survey was conducted amid the criticisms of President Rodrigo Duterte from international public figures and a few months after the result of the arbitration case between PH and China had been revealed, where the Philippines won.
