Many social media users drew comparison between the recent Davao night market bombing and the bombing tactics used in the ABS-CBN teleserye “Ang Probinsyano.” However, some were outright putting the blame on the network and the show for supposedly giving the terror groups an idea to bomb Davao to divert the government’s attention from its war against drugs.
But a Facebook group called Ignore Rants posted a rebuttal to whoever was thinking that the terrorists obtained the idea from the TV show.
“Seriously, anong klaseng katangahan to? I don’t watch Ang Probinsyano, but to blame a TV show as being responsible for making those miscreants to kill innocent lives? Come on. Violence and terrorism precedes TV shows. But I wonder anong TV show ang nagbigay ng ideya sa mga terorista noong Rizal Day bombing?” the fan page ranted.

Ignore Rants said that instead of blaming the show, everyone’s ire should be focused on the terrorists responsible for the “monstrosity.”
“What happened in Davao is horrifying. And there’s only one thing I can see to be blamed here. It’s the terrorists who are behind this monstrosity. I don’t care what kind of TV shows they watch or what kind of books are they reading. As long as they’re dragging innocent lives just to prove a fucking point then these people are the one who should be blamed,” they added.
On December 30, 2000, 22 people died while around a 100 people were injured after the five simultaneous bombings that rocked Metro Manila at the LRT and Plaza Ferguson in Manila; NAIA in Pasay City; a bus in Cubao, Quezon City; and an area near a gas station in Makati City, as compiled by GMA News.
Here are tweets from other netizens saying how the Davao bombing reminded them of the recent scenes in “Ang Probinsyano.”
