Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan clarified that his wife, Sharon Cuneta, visited the New Bilibid Prison in 2012 and sang for the inmates not for a concert but for the taping of her talk show.
“On July 10, 2012, Sharon went to the New Bilibid Prison for the taping of her talk show, ‘Kasama Mo Kapatid,’ which had an episode featuring the life of inmates,” Pangilinan said.
“She sang four songs for the closing portion, which is the customary format of the show. She sang ‘Maging Sino Ka Man,’ ‘Tubig at Langis,’ ‘Kahit Konting Pagtingin,’ and ‘Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko’ but only to support RockEd’s outreach program for prisoners,” he added.
According to an ABS-CBN report, RockEd Philippines founder Gang Badoy confirmed Cuneta’s performance as a part of an outreach program.
We were the ones who arranged for @sharon_cuneta12 to perform inside prison as outreach. Not the MochaGirls tho nor Freddie. @CrissyBaluyut https://t.co/iDt7LFLl7D

“Sharon was so kind and generous to the inmates,” Badoy said on her Twitter.
Badoy added that her volunteer group has been organizing concerts for the inmates in the Bilibid since 2007.

Aside from Cuneta, Badoy’s RockEd also organized gigs for The Dawn and the Itchyworms.
Pangilinan’s statement came after one of the witnesses, Bilibid inmate Rodolfo Magleo, said that the national penitentiary became known as “Little Las Vegas” for hosting “known singers and celebrities,” which, according to him included Cuneta, Mocha Girls, Freddie Aguilar, Ethel Booba, and Ruffa Mae Quinto. He made this testimony during the House inquiry into the alleged proliferation of drugs in the Bilibid on Tuesday, September 20.
