Busted: Roxas only had 60M election contributions? Nope, he hasn’t even filed his SOCE yet

The original image is actually an image posted by the Inquirer.net on their Facebook page.

SOCE

If you compare the two images, you might notice the difference lies in Roxas’ image, with Showbiz Government’s image bearing the details of Liberal Party’s expenditures of P241,097,372.73 million and how it covers the party’s expenses for the campaign of all of its candidates, both national and local.

Of course, the edited version of the Inquirer’s SOCE graphics did not fail to add a comment: “Mas magastos pa si Miriam sa kanila kahit wala siyang TV ads!!!”

They were referring to how Roxas allegedly has a contribution of P60,017,372.73, with no amount of the expenses stated, which is lesser than Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s election contributions  and expenses of P74,652,689.87.

Whoever edited this image could have misinterpreted, maliciously or otherwise, the news reports about how Roxas contributed some P60 million pesos to the LP’s election campaign.

But it should be noted that Roxas himself has not yet filed his own SOCE, although he is expected to do so within the week. They mistook Roxas’ contributions to his political party as his own SOCE and based on the comments under the post, many were quick to accuse Roxas and the party of lying to them.

If they could have made the effort of examining the image, with the font under Roxas’ photo completely different from the font style used under the photos of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte and the other presidential candidates and did a little research on whether Roxas has submitted his SOCE after his request for an extension, they could have busted the lie behind the edited image themselves.

Unfortunately, it is so much easier and much quicker to simply type and join in the exciting world of throwing accusations around, whether what they are commenting about is true or not.
