Busted: Al Jazeera reporter hits Duterte supporter for claiming she had cosmetic surgery, using a different woman’s photo

Al Jazeera reporter Jamela Alindogan slammed avid Duterte supporter RG San Luis and called him a “propagandist” for insinuating that she had plastic surgery done and for using a different reporter’s photo as her “before surgery” picture.

Alindogan doused San Luis’ insinuation by saying, “Bonjour! I see the propagandists working overtime again. Love how they insinuate I had cosmetic operation done haha.”

“They didn’t forget the little detail, check out the “yellow delawan” frame. Oh isn’t that sweet? They try sooooo very hard,” she added in her Facebook post on April 18.

Alindogan then pointed out how the woman in the smaller frame is actually a fellow reporter, “award-winning journalist” Lottie Salarda.

“Btw, that other lady in the picture is the wonderful, the beautiful Lottie Salarda, award-winning journalist based in Tacloban, currently a law student and a typhoon Yolanda survivor.  I am not at all offended. I am FLATTERED,” she said.

The Al Jazeera reporter’s post came after San Luis made a Facebook post on April 17.

“When the looks God gave you simply isn’t enough. It pays to be Jamela from Al Jazeera,” San Luis said.

Alindogan, in her response, posted a screenshot of San Luis’ Facebook post.

But comments on San Luis’ post were certainly not kind to Alindogan.

However, there were also netizens who called out San Luis for this “fake news.”

Julie Alipala, a Philippine Daily Inquirer reporter, commented on San Luis post, showing photos proving that the “before” woman in his post is actually Salarda.

On the same day Alindogan wrote her response to the Duterte supporter’s erroneous claim, San Luis issued his apologies to Salarda for mistakenly including her in his post meant to score Alindogan.

“Mea culpa. My apologies to Ms. Lottie Salarda of Interakyon who is depicted in my meme as the “before” of Jamela Alindogan,” San Luis wrote.

“This is an error of omission on my part as I didn’t bother to check the bonafides of the picture of Ms. Salarda, which I assumed to be that of Jamela Alindogan, because of the similarity in their features. My sincerest apologies to Ms. Salarda,” he added.
