In her September 16 post on Facebook, Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson hit the Philippine media for not paying attention to President Rodrigo Duterte’s revelations about Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s alleged offshore bank accounts.

“IBINUNYAG NI PRRD ANG BANK ACCOUNTS NI TRILLANES NA HINDI MAN LANG PINAPANSIN NG MEDIA PERO PAG SI TRILLANES ANG NAG PA-PRESSCON AT PURO BINTANG NAGPYEPYESTA ANG MEDIA, ang tanong BAKIT????” Uson posted.
She wrote this as a caption for an over three-minute video of Duterte talking to Erwin Tulfo on the PTV program “Sa Totoo Lang” on September 15.
However, anonymous blogger Pinoy Ako Blog slammed Uson for trying to paint the media in a bad light with her accusation, while recalling how Uson keeps calling the media “presstitutes.”
But unlike Uson’s allegations that the media did not cover Duterte’s accusations against Trillanes, PAB presented screenshots of headlines from various news outlets showing that they really covered the story.

ABS-CBN’s September 15 headline said: “Duterte: Trillanes ‘accumulated’ money during backchannel talks with China.”
GMA News Online’s headline read: “Duterte: Trillanes padded bank accounts in travels to China.”
Manila Standard’s also wrote a report about the story, with the headline: “President: Trillanes wealth came from Chinese.”
Sun Star Manila wrote, “Duterte gives more details about alleged bank accounts of Trillanes, ‘dummies.’”
Rappler’s headline went: “Duterte gives more details about alleged Trillanes bank accounts.”
Inquirer wrote “Duterte bares how Trillanes accumulated money in offshore bank accounts.”
Pinoy Ako Blog further slammed Uson for what he considered as her way of “demonizing” the media.
“Bakit mo dinedemonized ang media? Para ipalabas na ikaw lang ang legit news? At ikaw ang tunay na media?” the blogger wrote.
He emphasized that it would be heard to become a member of the media because the media are guided by their ethics.
