Senator Antonio Trillanes has made headlines several times for starting a mutiny again former President Gloria Arroyo and now, for hounding President Rodrigo Duterte over his alleged over P2 billion bank transactions. He is one controversial man and has become an easy target of various kinds of reports these days.

As if the controversies surrounding the senator aren’t enough, a fake news site wanted to get into the action too by publishing a story claiming that Trillanes was rushed to the hospital after overdosing on Viagra.

Thet1mes.com claims that Trillanes was admitted to the hospital on March 29 after consuming an excessive amount of Viagra.
A hospital attendant was even quoted in the article saying: “We have checked his condition and found that the honorable member has overdosed sildenafil citrate, the drug is used to treat erectile dysfunction. You can call it Viagra for the people to understand.”
Sadly, some netizens believed in the story, probably without even verifying the veracity of its claims.

No reports have come out about Trillanes being rushed to the hospital in the past few weeks or days, let alone overdosing on Viagra. This is obviously made up by thet1mes.com, like how the fake news site made up so many of its stories.
Yes, the Philippines may not exactly be safe from ridiculous things happening in it, making it harder for people to decipher which is fake news and which isn’t. However, performing a simple additional research on Google or your preferred search engine would save you from being deceived by fake news.
