Newly appointed British Prime Minister Theresa May was said to have described Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s first 100 days in office as “very promising.”
At least that’s what an article from cnn-channel.com claimed. It also mentioned how Duterte was rated negatively by former President Fidel V. Ramos, who said that within the President’s first three months, the Philippines was “losing badly,” and by actress Agot Isidro, who called Duterte a “psychopath.”
However, we tried searching for reports about the British PM commenting on Duterte, but we couldn’t find any from other sources. So far, Duterte and Theresa May have not made remarks on each other, let alone the latter describing the former’s administration as “very promising.” This story about May and Duterte is simply fake.

We also checked the website that posted the article, called cnn-channel.com. It does not have an About or Disclaimer page so we had to look at the other articles already published by the website.
We found headlines liked these on the site:
- Duterte insults Japan Emperor ahead of State Visit
- Breaking: FIBA disqualifies Spain and gives win to Philippines
- 18 sudden Zika deaths recorded today in Manila, This is how to stay safe
These three headlines are fake, too!
There was even an outrageous article about Duterte saying that he will kill half of the Philippine population involved with drugs. This is obviously another lie! If you’ve heard of Duterte’s speeches before, you’d probably be familiar with this figure that he kept uttering – that there are around 3 to 4 million drug users in the Philippines, not half of the Filipino population.
