A confessed hitman and member of the Lambada boys which is the antecedent of the so-called Davao Death Squad, Edgar Matobato looks into filing a complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte for “crimes against humanity” in front of the International Criminal Court, according to his lawyer.
In Matobato’s claims during the Senate’s probe, he stated that during the President’s reign as mayor of Davao City, he sent out orders to kill criminals and other personalities.
“That is a legal option being looked into, the offense is crime against humanity, in the ICC, the president is not immune from suit,” Sabio explained, although he would not reveal when Matobato’s camp is planning to take action.

The world’s first permanent international criminal court, the ICC, is committed in investigating and trying individuals who are charged with the gravest crimes which concern the international community, including but not limited to: genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
In a text message, Sabio further explained that “systematic and widespread murder is a crime against humanity,” which makes the case viable for investigation in the international court.
Previously stating that the accusations of Matobato were falsehoods, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II believes that the plan “would be thrown into the waste basket.”
Chief presidential legal counsel Secretary Salvador Panelo even states that the complaint would be “baseless.”
