The human rights lawyers organization, Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG), made and updated a primer on your rights under the Martial Law. It was first distributed during the Marcos regime, updated during the proclamation of Martial Law by former President Gloria Arroyo in 2001 and in 2006. Now, it is being published after President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao amid the clashes between the Philippine troops and the local terrorists, Maute group, in Marawi City, since May 23.

The primer discusses the following:
- What emergency powers are available to the President in times of emergency
- How you still have access to your basic rights under martial law and what those rights are
- What your rights are if you are under arrest or detained
- What you need to do if your house is searched
- What to do if you are intercepted at a stop-and-frisk operation
- What to do at a checkpoint
- What to do if you believe you will be arrested or at risk of being killed
- What to do if you are arrested, have already been arrested, or under detention
FLAG was founded in 1974 by Lorenzo Tanada Sr., Jose W. Diokno, and Joker Arroyo.
