A certain Facebook user shared an article to Facebook fan page “Rody Duterte Solid,” expressing how proud she is of President Rodrigo Duterte for raising the Filipinos’ skills and abilities to compete with the foreigners. Her article claimed that “Times Magazine” ranked Duterte, along with Russian President Vladimir Putin, ahead of US President Barack Obama in the magazine’s 2016 Most Influential Presidents list.
However, the article was posted by usa-radio.com, a blog that has shared several fake news before.
According to the article, the TIMES magazine released a list of “high performing and most influential presidents for 2016,” weeks after naming US President-elect Donald Trump as Man of the Year. The list had Duterte on top followed by Putin and Obama was ranked below them.

A glimpse of the list showed the following names:
- Rodrigo Duterte (The Philippines)
- Vladimir Putin (Russia)
- Barack Obama (United States)
- Joachim Gauck (Germany)
- John Magufuli (Tanzania)
While Duterte and Putin have made it to certain publications’ lists for their style of leadership, such as Putin topping Forbes 2016 list of most influential people, the same list where Duterte ranked 70th out of the 74 leaders and CNN hailed Duterte as “Asia’s Big Winner,” there is no list of 2016’s Most Influential Presidents from Times magazine. In fact, there is no Times magazine as the real one is called “Time Magazine.”

Time magazine only has a list “100 Most Influential People” for 2016, not “most influential presidents,” as the article claimed.
Moreover, usa-radio.com as a source cannot exactly be trusted after it has posted hoaxes like former President Fidel Ramos testing positive for taking illegal drugs, Senator Leila De Lima being the richest person in the Philippines, Hillary Clinton showing Duterte some love, and more.
