Busted: SWS Denies Conducting Survey on April 29 to May 2, 2016

The Social Weather Stations (SWS) denied conducting a survey on voter preferences on April 29 to May, 2016 via a disclaimer posted on their official website on Wednesday, May 4, as opposed to a social media post now circulating online.

The SWS has also warned the public to check the sources of the surveys and to visit their website instead for public reports and media releases.

“With less than a week left before the elections, we remind the public to be vigilant of false SWS survey reports bearing the SWS logo and unverifiable survey results on voter preferences.”

SWS also provided a link to Facebook user Joanna Allas-Fojas, who posted what she claimed was the latest SWS survey. The link now leads to an empty page with no content, but a Facebook search showed that she is a Duterte supporter.

In her post, she said that the survey was conducted during the period that covered the BPI account issue. She also claimed that such results will never be “published as Malacañang has blocked its release.”

Based on her post, presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte led the survey with a 42 percent rating, a huge 20 percent lead over rival Senator Grace Poe’s rating of 22 percent.

The other presidential candidates’ ratings were also shown to be 18 percent for Vice President Jejomar Binay, 16 percent for Mar Roxas, and 2 percent for Senator Miriam Santiago.

The same post showed that Senator Bongbong Marcos has earned a 28 percent preference rating among the vice presidential candidates, with Congresswoman Leni Robredo having a rating of 23 percent, tied with Senator Francis Escudero.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is shown to have an 11 percent preference rating.

The post did not include the preference ratings of Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Gregorio Honasan II.
