Earlier reports said a bullet hit the home of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre; however, on Tuesday, October 18, Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes corrected this information. According to Balmes, it was the personal vehicle of Senior Inspector Recaredo Sarmiento Marasigan, who is a member of Aguirre’s security group, which was hit by the bullet.
Marasigan narrated that on Tuesday, at about 5:30 a.m. to 5:50 a.m., he was “about to turn left from Sucat Road to BF Homes” when he “felt something hit the back part of my Hyundai Eon.”

As soon as he arrived at the house of Aguirre, Marasigan inspected his car and discovered a hole in his car’s left tail light. Upon further inspection, he was able to find a bullet inside.
The Parañaque City police has been notified of the incident since its occurrence.
Meanwhile, a National Bureau of Investigation official stated that the bullet found in the car “had no more impact.” The NBI investigator on the matter, Atty. Johnny Caguiat, imparted that the bullet which was found in the tail light of Marasigan’s car did not break through the plastic.
“According to the ballistician, wala nang impact ang bullet. Hindi na siya naka-penetrate sa plastic sa loob ng tail light. Possibly, according to him, malayo na ang pinanggalingan ng bullet na tumama sa sasakyan,” a text message from Caguiat had explained to Balmes.
As of Wednesday, justice chief Aguirre is in attendance at a gathering of judges in Cagayan de Oro.
