GMA News issued a public advisory to warn the public about a fake news site that tried to imitate their website URL.
“False news is being circulated online under a URL that resembles GMA News Online’s,” GMA News wrote.

“Please be advised that the only links/URLs being used by GMA News are gmanetwork.com, gmanetwork.com/news, and gmanews.tv,” it added.
GMA News was referring to the fake news site gma-tv.com, which even unashamedly uses GMA News Online’s logo.
The trick of imitating established media site’s URL is widely used by fake news sites. These sites include the following:

- bbc-channel.com, bbc101.co.uk, tv-bbc.com, bbctimes.com
These sites are trying to imitate bbc.com.
- Aljazeera-tv.com
The real news site is Aljazeera.com.
- tv-cnn.com, cnn-channel.com, cnnalive.com
These fake news sites are trying to mimic cnn.com.
- theguard1an.com
This site is trying to imitate theguardian.com.
- dw-tv3.com
This site is trying to imitate dw.com.
- da1lymail.com,
These sites are trying to imitate dailymail.co.uk.
- thet1mes.com
This hoax site is trying to mimic thetimes.co.uk.
- metro-uk.com
This site is trying to imitate metro.co.uk.
- fox-channel.com
This site is trying to imitate foxnews.com.
- philstar.i-telecast.com
This site is trying to imitate philstar.com.
