The Adobo Chronicles is on a roll where stories about Robredo are concerned. This time, they made up a story about how the Vice President, who recently came back home from her Los Angeles and Boston trips to attend a fundraising event and help her daughter get settled in Harvard, has directed her sights on Pacquiao, who went to Brisbane, Australia for his recent boxing match. Robredo allegedly cited the Freedom of Information (FOI) as the reason that Filipinos deserve to know how Pacquiao and his entourage funded their Brisbane trip. She reportedly added that she is confident that Senators Antonio Trillanes IV, Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, Kiko Pangilinan, and Franklin Drilon will grant her request for a hearing. The Adobo Chronicles allegedly asked Robredo about who funded her foreign trips and she just smiled, adding that questions should be directed to Georgina Hernandez, whom the website described as Robredo’s social media director, when she is actually the Vice President’s official spokesperson.

But as with any other Adobo Chronicles’ stories, their disclaimer as a satirical site and format should be considered to recognize which pieces of information are facts and which are fiction.

They would known which parts are real and which are made up if they read through the disclaimer and understood it before or after reading the story.

However, the comments on Adobo Chronicle’s Facebook post about the satirical article showed that while some of the netizens recognized it as satirical or fake news, others fell for the article and took it as real news.

As a part of the executive branch of the government, Vice President Robredo cannot request for a Senate hearing. It is the legislators’ work to do so.

One commenter took the time to explain what The Adobo Chronicles and its articles are all about.

“The story was made up. This is adobochronicles. For free data users or for those who do not know how to click a link, its a satire news website. It makes funny news articles based on the latest or trending news. Mostly political news. Honestly, I’m more amused at the comments. Seems a lot of people believed this to be a real serious article,” the commenter said.

From now on, if you read anything from The Adobo Chronicles, put in mind that it is a satirical site that mixes up real events with fictional ones. That way, you won’t fall victim to fake news.
