Articles pointing to Rappler, Bam Aquino and the Office of the Vice President (OVP) as the people behind the Facebook pages Superficial Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines (SGRP) and Madam Claudia surfaced online. However, Rappler shot back at the Facebook pages that shared the said articles on Facebook.
In a Facebook post on January 14, Rappler denied being the brain behind the pages critical of Duterte and historical revisionism.

“Several recent online posts claim Rappler is behind the Facebook pages Superficial Gazette and Madam Claudia. We’re not, and there’s no proof. Let’s stick to the facts, please?” Rappler wrote.
The post’s accompanying photo also showed how Facebook pages supporting President Rodrigo Duterte, his daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, broadcaster Erwin Tulfo, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, and PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa shared the articles with exactly the same caption. Rappler even mocked it with its caption, “Copy-paste, mga bes?”

Superficial Gazette also mocked the issue about the “Dutertrolls” pointing to just about anybody behind their page, from the OVP’s social media team, to Gio Tingson, to Judah Dela Cruz, to Trillanes’ microphone.
