Satire news have victimized many Filipino netizens, probably due to the tendency to read only the title without digesting the content of the article. This time, Duterte and Marcos fan pages fell victim to a satirical article about President Rodrigo Duterte supposedly signing an Executive Order banning pornographic materials.

According to the article, Duterte signed an EO that “prohibits the possession of any pornographic materials, that being a magazine or viewing pornographic material online.” As a punishment, violators will be slapped with “harsh fines” and possibly jail time for repeat offenders.

The article even attributed a quote to Duterte: “With respect to the holiness of the lord, Christ, I want to celebrate the first Christmas of my administration by cleansing the country with its sins.”
Duterte also supposedly said how pornography has negatively affected the children. It even mentioned Senator Leila de Lima.
But if you just click on the link of the article, you just need to open your eyes and read its content to know that it should not be taken seriously. Look at the upper left corner of the page and you’ll see this huge mark: “NEWSPH Satire News for Your Entertainment.”

There. One look would let you know that the article was satire, but based on the comments on Facebook, many people still took the article to be true.
