Self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato allegedly told the international media that his work with the Davao Death Squad (DDS) made him comparable to the action movie character John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves. At least this was what okd2.com is trying to sell.

The story was even shared to the Facebook group “Astig DUTERTE Warriors” by a certain Luwalhati Payas Malan.
A Facebook Links search showed that it has been shared almost 300 times.
Matobato allegedly made the comparison to the fictional character on Wednesay, May 17, at a press conference before the International Criminal Court at The Hague. Okd2.com also claimed that Matobato has been hiding “in Europe since leaving the Philippines several months ago.”
The website also named a certain Norwegian journalist, Bjorn Borgen, as the reporter who asked Matobato about how he made the killings and earned money from them.
The hitman was then quoted answering Borgen, “I work on contract basis. I work like John Wick. I’m paid in cash after my work is done. The amount depends on the level of target.” The crowd reportedly laughed over Matobato’s comparison.

However, we couldn’t find anything about Matobato giving a press conference before the international media on May 17. In fact, Okd2.com is once again making up stories as reports from established media outlets showed that Matobato is still very much in the Philippines, although he’s hiding and evading the authorities.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) told SunStar Davao on May 11 that they believe Matobato is hiding in the Eastern Visayas Region because reports showed that he has distant relatives in the unnamed province.
“According to reports, Matobato has distant relatives in this province kung saan siya pansamanatala ng namamalagi. As of now, we are still waiting for the feedback from the agents there,” said NBI-Davao Regional Director Arnold Rosales.
The same report noted that the Panabo City Regional Court (RTC) issued a hold departure order against Matobato on March 27 as he is on trial for allegedly kidnapping a Turkish national and suspected terrorist Sali Makdum in 2002.
So, Matobato did not really tell the international media that his hitman work was similar to that of John Wick’s. It was purely made up by the fake news site okd2.com.
Matobato, however, was earlier connected by the netizens to John Wick when he claimed, during the Senate hearing about the alleged EJKs of drug suspects, that a man was once shot 30 times and didn’t die.

This is not the first time Okd2.com published a fake stories. It made up stories, such Jim Paredes hating President Duterte since college, PNoy, Roxas and Soliman facing graft charges in an international court, fans snubbing Paredes’ CCP concert, Senator Risa Hontiveros wanting to raise senior citizens’ age requirement to 65 years old, and more.
