Duterte’s recent onslaught of criticisms against the United States while simultaneously befriending the Western superpower’s rival, China, raised concern particularly among the businesses that have close ties with America.
According to MBC chairman, the dialogue should also be attended by former President Fidel V. Ramos, experts in foreign relations, lawmakers and representatives from the academe, the Church, and the youth.
“We don’t understand why in the process of trying to improve relations with China, the administration would find it appropriate to turn its back on what we think is not only an important but a mutually beneficial relationship with the US,” Del Rosario told ANC’s “Market Edge with Cathy Yang.”
“We would like to see a national strategic policy developed in terms of our international relations that reflects solid thinking and discussion among various sectors,” he added.
