Busted: Leni Robredo Did NOT Concede to Bongbong Marcos

The answer is a resounding NO!

No, Robredo has always maintained that she did not cheat and emphasized the fact that her camp has not made cheating allegations against anybody the whole time she was trailing behind other candidates. It was not until around 3:30 am on May 10 that she took over in the vice presidential race, putting Marcos in second place.

When I was trailing, I never made allegations that the frontrunners were cheating. It would be unfair to make allegations that I cannot substantiate,” Robredo said.

Robredo also said that the results of the ongoing counting of the election returns are consistent with the results of the pre-election surveys, which showed her and Marcos statistically tied at first place.

Let me emphasize that there was a point during the quick point that I was the cellar dweller. We were depressed but we did not make unfair accusations. We did not say that Sen. Marcos was cheating. It would be unfair because I won’t be able to substantiate it,” Robredo added.

Meanwhile, other vice presidential candidates, including Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis Escudero, Antonio Trillanes, and Gregorio Honasan have conceded defeat. Cayetano even specifically conceded to Robredo.

On Friday, May 13, Robredo’s spokesperson Gerogina Hernandez asked their supporters to trust that no cheating has happened, as supported by the election experts and the foreign observers’ assessments of the May 9 elections.

May duda o wala, hindi magbabago ‘yung numero sa eleksyon. Sana lahat tayo maniwala at magtiwala sa democratic exercise na pinagdaanan ng bansa ngayon,” Hernandez stated.

Based on the partial, unofficial election results from COMELEC-GMA Mirror Server, 96.05% of the election returns have been transmitted as of 12:45 pm of May 14. Robredo is still leading with 14,014,517 votes, while Marcos is still in second place with 13,798,213 votes.
