Did you get to see Google Maps naming the heroes’ cemetery in Taguig City as “Libingan ng mga Bayani at Isang Magnanakaw”?
This happened on Wednesday morning, November 9, a day after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of burying the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
GMA News Online noted that as of 10:16am, Google has changed the Libingan’s name with the addition of the phrase “at Isang Magnanakaw.”
The Map Maker showed that the said change was requested by “Anonymous463” and noted that the name has “undergone total 54 changes.”

Malacañang has reacted to the new cemetery name, urging those who could revert it back to the original name to do so.
“Baguhin natin ulit. Ibalik natin sa original. Kung meron mang nakikinig ngayon at nagbabasa at meron kayong oras na baguhin iyon, baka pwede ibalik sa dati… I’m sure nang-aasar lang din ang naglagay noon eh,” Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar told GMA News Online.
He also emphasized that this is just how democracy works.

“Go forth and multiply. Well, it’s a democracy. It’s a part of the vibrancy of this democracy. And Google is not a government entity so is Wikipedia, and they can do anything they want in social media,” he said.
GMA News Online noted that they are asking the Marcoses for a reaction.
As of posting, Google Maps have reverted the cemetery’s name back to its original name.
