In time with the passing of our commemoration of the deceased, President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that when his own time comes, he does not wish to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
“Susmaryosep, kanila na yan. Pagtatalunan pa natin yan,” Duterte told reporters after his visit to his family’s mausoleum on All Saints’ Day.
President Duterte adds, “Walang pinaka mas honor para sa akin kung ‘di itatabi ako sa nanay pati tatay ko.”

The President would rather be laid to rest next to his family in Davao City than in the Libingan ng mga Bayani where former Presidents, soldiers and heroes were laid to rest.
He even states that, “As a matter of fact, it would be a terrible thing to be buried in any other [place], for me.” Duterte says that this was his own personal opinion.
As of recent, the Libingan ng mga Bayani is a hot topic due to the insistence of the Marcos family to have the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos be buried at the said location.
President Duterte permitted the burial on the grounds that Marcos was a former soldier and argued that the issue was not whether the former president was no hero.
This decision has been met with numerous criticisms coming from victims of human rights abuses and the plunder the government committed during the reign of martial law.
Currently, the move has been put to a halt by the Supreme Court.
