Lawyer Jude Sabio filed a criminal case against President Rodrigo Duterte and 11 other government officials before the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague.

He called Duterte a “mass murderer” and asked ICC to prosecute the Philippine president over his alleged involvement with the Davao Death Squad (DDS).
Sabio is the legal counsel of self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato.
However, some articles are being shared on Facebook claiming that Sabio is quite pitiful now that the case against Duterte will be dismissed by the ICC. Their headline goes. “Kawawang Sabio! Kaso Laban kay Pres. Duterte Ibinasura ng International Criminal Court.”
Note the use of the past tense “ibinasura,” which implies that the action has been committed, that the ICC has indeed dismissed the case against President Duterte.
The article has been shared by pages such as “Duterte News Global,” “Pres. Rody Duterte Worldwide Supporters,” “Pinoy Republic,” “Duterte Media,” “Kilusang Bagong Lipunan,” and “Duterte News,” among other Facebook pages.

However, the headline was actually misleading.
The link of the story contains a 12-minute long YouTube video. The video is actually a combination of several clips of news reports from PTV discussing the ICC case filed by Sabio, CNN Philippines’ interview with presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo, and CNN Christiane Amanpour’s interview with Senator Alan Peter Cayetano in August 2016.
The misleading title could have been based on the PTV report with this headline: “Kasong isinampa laban kay Pangulong Duterte sa ICC, mababasura lang, ayon kay Senador Cayetano.” It was merely Cayetano saying that he is confident that the ICC case against Dutere will be dismissed.
The office of ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has confirmed receipt of the complaint on April 24 and would study the 77-page complaint submitted by Sabio according to the Rome Statute.
According to a PTV report, ICC will start reviewing the case on May 8 in Geneva, Switzerland. This means the headline was wrong and was meant to sow misinformation among its readers.
