Facebook user Agnes Arthur shared a link on the “DDS/Diehard Duterte Supporters” group with the headline announcing Senator Leila De Lima’s resignation from the Liberal Party.
According to the article, De Lima declared that she is resigning from the Liberal Party, after becoming a member in 2015 and has already handed her resignation to Josephine Sato, who is the Party’s Secretary-General.
Liberal Party’s acting President Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan said “the letter did not state reasons” in order to fill the curiosity of the people as a copy of the resignation is yet to be made available to the media.

A press conference is to be held in the weekend; hence, De Lima’s refusal to speak to the media.
However, the news article was shared on January 4 last week and no press conference on De Lima’s alleged resignation was held on the weekend, which invalidates this piece of news.
Furthermore, the link to the article preview clearly shows news.abs-cbn.com but instead redirects the user to Cbn Television at cbn-tv.com. The name is most probably used to mislead people into believing that news coming from this site was actually reported by ABS-CBN News.
In addition, a quick search on Google for cbn-tv.com would lead you to The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), whose aim is to proclaim the Good News of the Lord in numerous countries, which is in contradiction to what the Cbn Television news site offers.
Where talks of resignation is concerned, recall that De Lima stated last year on August that she will not resign from her post as senator after much deliberation because doing so would be “an admission of guilt and a sign of weakness.”

“And I’m neither weak nor guilty,” De Lima declares.
This statement was made in reply to President Duterte’s call for her resignation, followed by an advice to hang herself as well.
