Bayarang anti-Marcos protesters? Leni laughs off ‘Black Friday’ protest funding allegations

Vice President Leni Robredo denied claims that pointed her out for funding the “Black Firday” protest that was held in Rizal Park on Friday night, where thousands of Filipinos gathered to make a clear statement of their opposition to the burial of late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Robredo was interviewed at Naga City, where she told the reporters that these allegations were funny.

When asked about her reaction to the issue, the Vice President just said—“natatawa.”

“Nahihirapan nga ako magpondo ng aking election case, ito pa kaya?” she said.

The allegation that it was Robredo and the Liberal Party who funded the rally during “Black Friday” came from the group Republic Defenders.

Former senator and son of the late dictator, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., contested the victory of Leni Robredo for Vice Presidency during the May eections after he lost only by 200,000 votes. According to her, Robredo’s greatest concern as of the moment is the legal fees for the election case more than the merits of the case.

Robredo also pointed out that it is an insult to the thousand of protesters during “Black Friday,” particularly the youth, if some people say that the protest was funded.

Robredo said.

Robredo released her own statement of disapproval after the surprise burial of the late dictator at the Libingan ng mga Bayani last November 18.

The Vice President said that Marcos was not a hero, and that he was “a thief, a murdered, and a dictator.”

In a separate interview in Manila, Robredo was asked if she has plans to join the rallies but she said that there were no plans yet. She also voiced out that it might be better if politics would be left out in such gatherings.

Pero tingnan natin in the next few days,” she said.
