Busted: Article claiming Queen Elizabeth II calling Duterte a ‘brave man’ is fake!

Queen Elizabeth II has so far not made any statements about Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, yet several fake news articles have been created to attribute fake quotes to her. This time, an article has been shared at least 5,000 times by Facebook pages, claiming that the British monarch called Duterte a “brave man.”

The article claimed that Queen Elizabeth praised Duterte for “raising Filipinos from grass to grace.”

Just like with the fake articles that came before it, there were statements that supposedly came from the queen. She reportedly said: “Philippines is now reforming in the hands of Preisdent Duterte. Who would have thought that one day, a simple ordinary man would rise and shine? Who would have thought that one day, Philippines will get a brave and intelligent man like Mr. Duterte?”

Another statement attributed to her went: “I’m convinced that Duterte will raise Philippines from grass to the grace. The world needs such leaders and the Philippines government should not hesitate to work with the United Kingdom.”

The article also noted that this is the second time the British Queen has commended Duterte, which showed how supportive she is of the Philppine president’s ideologies. It also added how African presidents also mentioned Duterte as their role model.

Based on their captions, the two Facebook pages that shared the article truly believed in it. However, there were several commenters who pointed out that the article was an obvious hoax.

Those commenters did have a point. The statements attributed to the queen were all fake. You can’t find them anywhere, other than in BBC-Channel.com, the source of several hoaxes that we already busted.

This is not our first bust involving Queen Elizabeth II. We also busted fake and satirical articles claiming that she requested a meeting with Duterte, that she congratulated the Philippine Senate for ousting Senator Leila de Lima from her committee chairmanship, that she erected a statute for Duterte, and that the Queen allegedly said US President Barack Obama is scared of Duterte. It seems like the British queen has become a favorite subject of several hoax makers.

BBC-Channel.com has shared fake and satirical news, such as African presidents calling Duterte a “hero,” the Philippines ranking as the most reformed country since Duterte’s administration, and Duterte leading in terms of social media following, among others.

If you find articles posted by BBC-Channel.com, which is not related to the British Broadcasting Corporation, verify the claims of the articles first before believing in them and sharing them online to avoid spreading misinformation.
