And the comments on the photo showed that many netizens thought that photo was genuine.

However, a quick Google reverse image search brought us to a Philippine Star report on July 24, 2014 with a featured image showing Aquino looking closely at what was actually Apolinario Mabini’s family tree.

The real photo was said to have been taken when Aquino attended the opening of the museum dedicated to celebrating the life of the Philippines’ “Sublime Paralytic” in Tanauan, Batangas. The former president was invited to lead the commemoration of Mabini’s 150th birth anniversary.

But Aquino looking at Mabini’s family true was edited and many netizens, close to a thousand who shared it as of writing, did not even bother to check it.

Meme Buster also busted several edited photos before, among which was an edited photo showing the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos getting personally decorated with a medal by Gen. Douglas MacArthur, a tarpaulin edited to make it seem as though Bicol was embarrassed of Vice President Leni Robredo, a fake Inquirer headline about an anti-Duterte rally, and a photo of US President Donald Trump shaking hands with Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, among others.
