To clarify the issue, Twitter user Leo Rey Almero (@startledrattles) tweeted Cooper himself at @andersoncooper.
“Did you actually say this? A presidential candidate’s supporter here in the Phils. Posted this.”
Based on the tweeted photo, the meme was shared by a Duterte supporter as she was using a profile picture often used by other Duterte supporters.
And Cooper replied!
“@startledrattles no, I never said this. It is fake”
So there you go. One Twitter user even commented that it is a good thing that Almero did a fact check. It definitely is a good practice to do so!
This Anderson Cooper meme is just one of the false memes out there. But among the most controversial one is possibly that of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, which the Singapore Embassy in Manila denied and currently seeking legal advice following the issue.
