Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said on September 8 that Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson will stop performing in casinos following reports that she was spotted performing with her group at Resorts World Manila.

““Some of her contracts are ongoing and recently, because of what happened when a video of her was uploaded while performing in a casino, I think Mocha has also stopped performing in casinos,” Andanar said.

Andanar noted that before she took her post, she asked permission to continue performing due to the entertainment contracts she already signed.

“Pinayagan naman namin as long as ito’y naaayon sa batas,” he added.

Andanar said that Malacañang legal office has yet to issue an opinion on reports claiming that Uson was caught performing in a casino, which is in violation of Presidential Decree No. 1067-B (series of 1977), as amended by P.D. No. 1869 (series of 1983).

But former Aquino presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda asked whether President Rodrigo Duterte or Andanar would ask Uson to leave her office.

“The late LTO head Virgie Torres left office bec she was in a casino. So was Asec Mocha Uson. So, will Duterte or Andanar ask her to leave?” he tweeted.

Torres retired in October 2013 after she figured in a viral video controversy showing her playing slot machine at a casino in August 2013.
