A blog called aloncdy.blogspot.com claimed that Ronnie Dayan’s wife is going to file adultery raps against Senator Leila De Lima for carrying a seven-year affair with her husband.
And the article was picked up by websites newstrendph.com and pinoyspeak.info, which were included in our list of fake news sites for re-publishing a lot of fake articles. The story was also shared by several Duterte and Marcos fan pages on Facebook, with the post by “Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Dutete iboboto ko, kaya like ko itong page” (yes, that’s how the FB page’s name is) earning over 4,000 shares as of writing.

The blog enumerated how Dayan’s daughter, Hannah Mae, showed a text from De Lima advising her driver not to attend the Congress probe into the drug trade proliferation in the Bilibid, how House Speaker Pantaleon who said that Dayan’s wife can file a case against De Lima and how the wife was the real victim, which are all true, so far.
The article then added Alon Calinao Dy’s take on the matter: “I think the opposition is using religious groups and women’s groups to feel that they are being abused by the current administration, when in fact, it tries to see the whole truth.”
It also cited “some reports on social media” as its basis in claiming that Dayan’s wife “might file a case” against De Lima, despite the fact that the senator sent Dayan’s kids to school.

If you read the article carefully, it does not actually present solid proof that Dayan’s wife is considering filing a case. We also read several reports concerning Dayan and his wife, but we only found reports about his wife accompanying him to the Senate probe or her feeling “shocked” over the revelation of his husband’s affair. So far, we haven’t found credible reports about his wife mulling over filing a case.
And if Dayan’s wife does file a case, it won’t be adultery. It would be concubinage and she would not only be filing it against De Lima, but also against her husband.
According to a GMA opinion article, the law assigns blame among the guilty parties, which is why in the case of a husband having an affair, the wife can charge him and the mistress with concubinage provided he keeps his mistress in the house he shares with his wife; he lives with his mistress; or he has sexual intercourse with his mistress under scandalous circumstances.
While a Manila Times article said that another woman who entertained their writer at Dayan’s house in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan said that Dayan’s wife will hold a press conference to comment on her husband’s affair with De Lima, that has not happened so far.

Moreover, the blog only based its claim about the possible move that Dayan’s wife might take on “social media reports.” Well, we know just how “reliable” such reports are.
Aloncdy.blogspot.com also published the fake article about De Lima crying after getting kicked out of a conference hall in Germany.
